    Race Phots
"Drivers often receive more praise than we deserve. Endurance racing is a Team not a Driver's race. No single person wins it and any member can cause the loss. Win Endurance races by clicking off laps and staying out of the pits, not damaging or killing the equipment. It's nice, but you don't have to be the fastest driver on the track." -Hal Prewitt

  • Jan 26-29, 2012 - Daytona Beach, Florida USA-- Racing at the 50th anniversary of the Rolex 24 at Daytona. Will be driving in #12 Porsche for Alliance Autosport. Other drivers are Jon Miller, Scott Rettich, Matt Schneider and Darryl Shoff.
  • Jan 12-14, 2012 - Dubai, UAE-- Raced at the Dubai Autodrome in the 24 hours of Dubai . I did double duty and drove two cars; the Lotus Evora GT4 and a BMW 120D for Marcos Racing International. Started off well with the Lotus second place on the grid in its class. Drivers were Cor Euser, Simon Atkins, Alistair MacKinnon and Richard Verburg. The No. 126 Drink Florida Orange Juice had the fasted class lap of 2:12.123, ended with a DNF after 298 laps placing 61st overall out of 73 and 16th in the SP3 class. Luck was not on our side. Was the car to beat, class P1 at the 4 hour mark and had climbed into a 5 lap lead when hit by Frenchman Jean Paul Pagny (BMW 130I #51) on the straightaway between turns 5 and 6. He decided it was ok to change from the full left to the right side of the track while directly in front of passing cars and told us he was too busy to check his mirrors. Impact was made on left rear wheel causing a violent hard spin that took the Lotus off the right side of the track and ending back on in the center facing on coming traffic. Was one of those "praying" moments. No body damage but caused lots of wheel, suspension and steering issues. Knock us back 30+ laps and more than a hour and half. After running another six hours droped out after transmission had problems likily due to the impact and when Team owner decided to call a stop. Special thanks go to the crew and Lotus Factory for support and sponsorship.

Race had mostly fast cars so it was very hard to win a podium in any class or overall. For whatever reason, Diesels cars had a very small turnout so they moved our BMW 120D to the next faster (A2) class and gave it more fuel trying to off set the time. I started our #131 near the end of the grid as it was the slowest car in the race. Other drivers were Paul Follett, Richard Verburg, Yves Junne and Peter Morris. About the time Lotus was hit, BMW got to p3 in class. Very hard to do well, but we were doing the job. During the race had a few issues that caused a drop to p4. About 10 am with 4 hrs to go broke a drive shaft. Easy to fix, but Team cross-theaded key bolt ending its run. Wins don't always go to the fasted cars. Had we not stopped, would have finished P3 in our class. Official finish at 412 laps was 47th of 73 and 7th in class. At the end, I did get to drive almost 8 hrs of the 24 and in both cars. Sad race, don't think I've ever driven one when a team had two cars DNF. Lots of bad luck at this one.
  • Dec 2-4, 2011 - Willows, Calif USA-- Raced at the Thunderhill Raceway Park in the The United States Air Force (USAF) National Auto Sport Association (NASA)'s 9th running of the 25 Hours of Thunderhill. Drove #98 Mazda Miata (1600cc) for Hooverspeed. Other drivers were Jim Briody, Andrew Novich and Gordon Bentley (of Speed Secrets fame). Finished 615 laps with fastest of 2:07.656 and 5th in class E3 out of 23 and 22nd overall of 83 cars. I drove 8+ hours including a long 4 in addition to the finishing stint. Did get the car to class P1 before an hour setback due to contact in turn 12. Got hit on the left nose by an unkown driver. This was a fun and enjoyable race on one of the US's more interesting tracks and run under a strange set of rules.
  • Sept 30 - Oct 2, 2011 - Silverstone, England-- Raced at the Silverstone Circuit in the 24 hours of Silverstone and drove the new Lotus Evora GT4 for Marcos Racing International. Other drivers were Cor Euser, Dick Freebird, Alistair MacKinnon and Jim Briody. The No. 57 Drink Florida Orange Juice finished 3rd overall and 2nd in class. Hard race. Climbed from last to 3rd after being hit in the left rear by an idiot (BMW M3E46 #68) just after turn 1, on lap 1 that sent me spinning and kissing the cement wall. We finished 1 lap from 2nd and 14th from 1st overall. Our class was not the fastest (3rd of 4) and had about 27 of about 60 cars. One driver had 2 penalties for time/speed pit errors and we had a number of tire problems which in total caused excessive pit stops (26 for +72 mins). I drove about +7 hours in 6 stints, started and finished the race. Jim was not able to drive due to illness. Alistair, Dick and I did most of the driving with Cor getting in a few early morning stints. Completed 559 laps with most about 2:22 and the quickest at 2:16.593 by Alistair (mine was 2:18). Special thanks go to the crew and Lotus Factory for support and sponsorship.
  • Sept 23-25th, 2011 - Barcelona, Spain- Racing in the 24 Hours of Barcelona. Finished 31st of 59 overall and 5th in class on the famous Formula 1 Circuit de Cataluna. Race started in the rain, ran mixed and finished dry. I drove 4 stints or about 6 1/2 hours and finished the race. Quickest lap was 2:14.525. Other drivers were Cor Euser, Jan Versluis, Trevor Knight in the team's No. 61 BMW 320D from Marcos Racing International. Was an amazing finish due to the many problems of racing a new car; failed brakes, non-stop tire and fuel issues. Lost ABS/Traction Cnt and 70% of braking control for half the race. Our sister car #63 BMW 120D finished 1st in class.
  • June 23-26th, 2011 - Nurburg, German - Raced in the 24 Hours of Nurburgring in a BMW 120 Turbo Diesel for Marcos Racing International. The No. 184 Drink Florida Orange Juice finished 4th in class and 96rd overall out of 203 cars (250 tested) after 116 laps and the quickest of 10:47.425. Loss more than 1 1/2 hours due to three tire failures and one minior contact. Hal Started, Finished and all together drove four stints or for about 8 hours of the race. Other drivers were Jim Briody, Toto Lassally and Cor Euser. This a GT and touring car endurance racing event on the Nurburgring. No question this has become the world road race of the year. Maybe 1/2 million fans and gads more on TV and the internet. Likely between the 5 races there were 700+ race cars (250 in the 24 hr, 250 Porsche GT3 Cup cars and classics) and at least 1,000 drivers from all over the world. The venue of this event is held on the Nurburgring Nordschleife (the 22.835km north loop) and F1 tracks. Un-edited pictures taken by Tom Lafleur are available of the Drivers Tour prior to and of the 24h race.
  • June 17-18, 2011 - Spa, Belgium-- Raced at the historic Circuit De Spa Francorchamps in the BTCS 12 Hours of Spa. Set in the beautiful Ardennes forest, it is considered one of the most challenging race tracks in the world. Drove a BMW 120D for Marcos Racing International with drivers Jim Briody, Hal Prewitt, Toto Lassally and Cor Euser. A very difficult race as it rained most of the event and we had very poor visibility. Finished 2nd in class and 22nd out of 49 cars after driving 201 laps and the quickest at 2:53.526.
  • June 3-6, 2011 - Silverstone, England-- Raced at the historic Silverstone Circuit in the European GT4 events and drove the new Lotus Evora GT4 for Marcos Racing International. For the most part we had wet to drying conditions, limited test time and therefore never did find the right setup. Struggled with a never ending power-on oversteer problem and could not get under a 2:19 lap. Ran 3 races (two 25 min sprints and one 50 min enduro). Finished 15th and 13th in the sprints and 11th in the Enduro.
  • May 21-22, 2011 - Budapest, Hungary-- Two 3rd place finishes while racing in the 12HR of Hungary driving the new Lotus Evora GT4 and a BMW 120D for Marcos Racing International with drivers Jim Briody, Hal Prewitt, Toto Lassally, Frank Nebig and Cor Euser. Laps times were 2:05 for the Lotus and 2:16 for the BMW. During the race I drove almost 8 hours in the Lotus and 2 in the BMW 120D. Had many problems; BMW:Brake line cut and fire, steering and tire issues; Lotus: rear damage from contact, shifting/wiring falures and lost rear wheel from stud issue.
  • May 6-8 & 9, 2011 - Donington Park & Norwich, England -- Raced at the historic track in the Donington Park in the Dutch Super Car race driving the new Lotus Evora GT4 and tested at the Lotus Factory in Norwich. Was hit by wild BMW and lost windscreen during 1st 50 min race causing car to run only 30 of the 45 laps. Did turn 7th fastest lap of the 34 car field. In the 2nd 50 min race turned competitive laps with the best at 1:15.5 and finished mid-pack after a slow start in wet conditions. Video highlight are available in Episode 3

  • Jan 13-15th, 2011 - Dubai, United Arab Emirates - The #134 MyPluggz.com/Drink Florida Orange Juice/SPEEDCOM/Marcos Racing International BMW 120D team of Hal Prewitt, Will Turner & Don Salama of Turner Motorsport and Toto Lassally saw their bid for a repeat win in the 24 Hours of Dubai end early Saturday but not the effort to raise funds for a pair of children's charities through EveryLapCounts.com . Prewitt had just taken the wheel of the second-place No. 134 for a Saturday evening driving stint in what had been a trouble-free run to that point by all four drivers. He was accelerating up to speed after an on-course safety period when he felt the steering stiffen. Prewitt made it to the pits where the crew confirmed the problem was due to crankshaft pulley failure. Turner qualified 5th Thursday in the D1 (Diesel 1) class out of a total of 85 on the track.
